Melbourne 4
St Kilda-University 0 (half time 2-0)

Melbourne win by 4 goals

Goalkickers: Utar Nicholas 2, Austin Loughnan 1, Andrew Loughnan 1

The two sides played again for the second time in four weeks as the merged side fulfilled University's pre-arranged fixture with the Reds. Melbourne initially disputed the combination's team as they claimed it had a player who had appeared with Albert Park earlier in the year, but when they refused to play without him the home side relented.

The combined side were spirited but were clearly outclassed, and the ball was more often than not found near the opposition goal. After 20 minutes Melbourne had total control, leading by two goals. After half time they doubled their advantage.

Best were Longden, Kneen and Watson.
