1958 Thirds and 1959 Reserves player. He had no trouble getting a clearance from Picola as he was also the secretary of the club. He'd been playing senior football since he was 14-years-old, and had turned back several offers from Bendigo League clubs before joining Melbourne.

Two league clubs purused Buswell in the 1958 pre-season, before John Lord Senior steered him towards the Demons.

Later coached Euroa, before joining City United.
