Rover who joined the club in 1964 on the recommendation of ex-player Trevor Johnson after winning a premiership at Epping. He'd earlier turned down an invitation to train with Collingwood.

Vearing's first year was interrupted by a knee injury in the final practice match that kept him out until the second half of the season. He resumed in the Reserves, unable to get past Ken Emselle and John Townsend in the roving pecking order, making his senior debut in 1965.

As well as five matches in his first year, Vearing also won the Reserves Best and Fairest. He took the same award a year later.

After a further six games the next year and another Reserves Best and Fairest he was cut from Melbourne's list, spending half a season with South Australian country club Mundulla. He returned to Epping in 1968 and played a final season before retiring.
