Forward who was recruited on the recommendation of MCC Secretary Vernon Ransford, then promoted to the seniors after eight and nine goal hauls in the Reserves.

After five games in his debut season, Bell had a delayed start to 1947 due to a fractured wrist and only played one match for the season. He appeared as full forward in the first round of 1948 but did not play another game for the Demons. Bell trained with St Kilda in 1949 but didn't play a senior match.

Served in the Army during World War II.
