Defender who played in the Collingwood Under 19s from 1971 to 1973 before appearing in 17 senior matches. He was swapped to Melbourne along with Wayne Gordon and Phil Carman in 1979 as a swap for Ross Brewer and cash.

Dellamarta had a delayed start to the 1979 season after a dislocated shoulder in a practice match, and played just two senior games for the club after battling knee issues. During a Reserves game that year he had an argument with coach Ray Biffin and ended up watching the second half of the game from the stands. He joined VFA side Prahran in 1980, remaining there until early 1981, when he suffered another knee injury.

Played a combined 142 Reserves games for Collingwood and Melbourne.
