1936 pre-season player after winning the best and fairest award in the previous year's Drapers League. Also a Prahran cricketer, and joined the Prahran VFA side after failing to make Melbourne's list.

He won the VFA's Best and Fairest award in 1937, and played in a Prahran premiership. He remained in Melbourne's residential area, and St Kilda tried to sign him in mid-1937 before he was eventually cleared there in April 1938. Lowry played 56 games across nine seasons. He also served with the Army during World War II.
