Former Victorian Under 17 Teal Cup representatitve and Under 19s player who appeared in the 1987 international match against North Melbourne in Vancouver due to an injury crisis. The Under 19s were on the end of season trip along with the seniors.

Normington wore number 53 and number 55 in 1987, number 55 again in 1988 and played Panasonic Cup pre-season football in 1989 but did not play a senior match. In 1989 he wore number 36.

After his time in the VFL ended Normington returned to Kyabram. He was drafted by Collingwood with pick 52 in the 1989 National Draft but did not play a game for the club in 1990.

After leaving the Magpies he joined VFA side Werribee and was drafted for the second time. Fitzroy selected him at pick 30 in the 1994 Mid-Season draft after being voted best on ground in the VFA's representative game against the Northern Territory Football League. Normington had played matches for their reserves side a year earlier, but once he was on the senior list he again failed to play a game - his third league club for no return.

In 2005 Normington was an assistant coach at Werribee, and in 2009 he coached Lara in the Geelong Football League. After his football career he became a police officer.
