Grgic played the last nine games of 1997, before appearing in 19 games the next year, being named Most Improved Player and winning a contract extension. His 1999 was affected by injury, barely making Round 1 due to trouble from groin injuries Grgic had battled since he was 15, then missed several weeks with an injured hamstring.
In 2000, Grgic spent time in defence and appeared in 22 games. He was dropped late in the year, but fought his way back into the side, retaining his place through the Grand Final. After 14 games in 2001 Grgic was traded to Geelong for National Draft selection #55. He played 13 games for the Cats over two seasons and and appeared in a VFL premiership side.
Delisted at the end of 2003 he joined Bell Park, playing there through 2007, before returning to original club Bell Post Hill as an assistant coach in 2008. They were runners-up in his first two seasons, but after Grgic took over as senior coach in 2010 they won the premiership at the first opportunity. He coached them to further premierships in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015, as well as finishing runner-up in 2013. In 2016 he joined the Geelong VFL side as a coach.
