A week after replacing North at the top of the ladder, Melbourne again ceded the top spot. After starting the game with the first three goals, the Demons didn't kick another until the final quarter when the game was long gone. Despite a midweek flu outbreak, North ran over the top to win easily and reestablish themselves as premiership favourite.
Best were Gillard, Hanks and Austin. Shelley Heath-Barker suffered a calf injury.
