Former Port Adelaide and Richmond defender who was appointed Offensive Coordinator at Melbourne for the 2017 season after 215 career games.
From 2018 through 2024 he coached defenders, before becoming forward coach in 2025. In Round 22, 2025, Chaplin was named interim coach for the last three games of the year after the departure of Simon Goodwin.
