In Melbourne's annual home game at Docklands, played on Mother's Day, the Demons extended their record for the season to 6-3 with a comfortable win over the Eagles. All the damage was done in the first quarter, when Melbourne kicked the last five goals. Despite the Eagles suffering two 100 point losses for the season, they only lost the rest of the game by one point, defending Melbourne's ball movement well , but being stretched in attack - especially after losing a key defender to concussion in the first quarter.
Best were Kade Chandler, Jake Bowey, and Jacob van Rooyen. Andy Moniz-Wakefield replaced Daniel Turner (illness) in the selected side. Caleb Windsor injured his toe.
