Melbourne got their season back on track with an easy win over the Maroons. The two teams had to deal with strong winds, and it made for a poor standard game with a number of missed shots on goal.

The Redleg defence held firm in the face of attacks by Fitzroy, restricting them to two goals in the first half - by which time the lead was nearly four goals. The lead was extended in each of the next two quarters and the visitors never threatened again.

White, Davidson and Collins were best.

Melbourne 14.9.93 d. Fitzroy 8.13.61
Goals - McInnes 7, Tulloh 3, Unknown 4
