After two losses in a row the Demons finally regained some form against a desperately out of form Maybloom outfit who had been all but deserted by their supporters in cold, windy rain. Games were nearly called off after a meeting of league delegates on Saturday morning, but it was decided to play on due to a forecast that the weather would improve, it didn't and crowds across the league were well down.
With the match being played in slushy conditions it was not of a high standard, but that didn't matter for Melbourne who were happy just to get the four points.
Baggott, Smith and Lock were best.
