Forward/midfielder taken with Melbourne's second selection in the 2023 National Draft after playing WAFL seniors with Subiaco during the season, and representing the Western Australian Under 18 team in both 2022 and 2023. Debuted in early 2024, before returning to the VFL until Round 15. Played nine games in a 2025 season that was affected by injury, then saw him in and out of the side several times.
In 2026, Tholstrup had a breakthrough season in Melbourne's backline. He played every game, keeping a number of prominent players quiet, and was rewarded with a contract extension until the end of 2031.
