Dominant VFL midfielder who had been training with St Kilda before the Rookie Draft but was eventually selected by the Demons. The Saints had seen him close up playing for their VFL aligned clubs Sandringham.
Achieved the rare feat of kicking a goal with his first two kicks in league football, but managed just two more for the rest of the year as his output levelled off after two near best on ground performances in the opening rounds. He played the first 11 matches before being dropped, and was recalled twice before the end of the season.
Magner played just two matches in 2013 despite often being amongst the best players for Casey Demons and was delisted at the end of the season. He joined VFL side Port Melbourne for 2014, and in 2015 appeared with Essendon as a top-up player during their pre-season matches.
