Brother of Rowley Fischer who played seconds but never seniors. The follower missed most of the 1936 season after dislocating his shoulder in a Seconds game in Round 3.
Played with Oakleigh from 1937 to 1939, after his clearance was initially questioned by Preston. He had previously signed with them on the promise that he'd play if they found him employment. They claimed that when he came to the city, the Horsham League sent his clearance papers to Melbourne instead. Fischer went to Hawthorn in 1940. Joined North Hobart in 1947.

Notes
Likely the Hugh Fischer who died 30/04/2000 (Herald Sun 01/05/2000). Possibly the same as pre-season player K. Fisher. Possibly the H. Fischer who played for Melbourne High School Old Boys in 1935. Also shown as from Oakleigh.
