Cleared to Melbourne in the 1939 pre-season, Stewart played Seconds and was cleared to Brocklesby in April 1940. Enlisted in the RAAF in April 1941 and was killed in an aircraft accident in May 1942 while serving at the 23 Service Flying Training school in Rhodesia.
