The older brother of John Fidge was delisted at the end of 1988 after underdoing a groin operation despite leading that year's Reserves goalkicking. He had already missed entire seasons in 1984 and 1987.
Called into the side for his first match of the year in 1988 he was reported for striking Darren Millane from Collingwood and suspended for six matches in what would turn out to be his last VFL match. He was delisted at the end of the year.
Fidge captain/coached Sale in 1989 and 1990, finishing third in the Gippsland League both years. He was later named on the interchange bench of their team of the 90's. Played for Werribee in 1992.
