After suffering an ankle injury in a pre-season game which later became infected. It kept him out for the whole season. He had to undergo several operations and have bone removed from his toe. Meehl played one more game in 1938.
In Round 15, 1935 he played a game with a splinter of glass in his eye. The day before a lightbulb he'd been adjusting exploded but he didn't realise the glass had entered his eye until after the match.
Joined Terang as Captain/Coach in 1939 but resigned midway through the year to return to the city.
Before travelling to Melbourne, Meehl had been a rugby league player in Sydney.
