A key position player at either end, Bryce had also been used a ruck and forward since debuting for North at 18-years-old. He was a regular for three seasons before being traded to the Demons for draft picks 11 and 35 before 1991.

Used almost exclusively down back for Melbourne he played 26 games in two seasons but was delisted shortly before the start of the 1993 season. Bryce was selected by Sydney in that year's pre-season draft but had his career cut short after one season when injuries caused him to lose interest in footy and he wanted to move back to Melbourne. The only win he played in during his 17 games with the Swans was against Melbourne.

Later in the decade he captain/coached Launceston in the Northern Tasmanian Football League.

Bryce later worked as a personal trainer.
