Drafted by the Brisbane Lions with pick two in the 2015 National Draft, Schache left Brisbane after two seasons and was traded to the Western Bulldogs for draft picks #25 and #40. The forward spent five years with the Dogs, including playing in the 2021 Grand Final loss to Melbourne, before being traded to the Demons after a year when he only played seven senior games for five goals.

His father Laurence played with the Brisbane Bears in 1991 and 1992.
