Picked from the VFA in the 1993 Mid-Season Draft, Evans didn't play a game. Delisted at the end of the year, he was redrafted as a supplementary Reserves player but remained at Springvale.

In 1997 Richmond restarted his AFL career, picking Evans with the sixth selection of the 1997 Pre-Season draft. He had better luck at the Tigers, playing 28 games over four seasons. His last match came against Melbourne, in Round 16, 2000. He returned to Narre Warren in 2002, playing there until 2011 and winning five Mornington Peninsula league premierships.
