Champion goalkicker in the amateurs who had more than 1000 to his name when he was granted a permit to play for Melbourne in 1938. In 1934 he kicked over 160 goals for the season.
He lived in the St Kilda zone and was granted a residential clearance to play for Melbourne in exchange for letting Jack Lowry join the Saints, but instead opted to join The Argus as a journalist instead.
Pearson was also a state cricketer, playing 14 first class matches.
