After a loss the previous week, Melbourne got their season back on track against an emerging but still lowly Gold Coast. The Suns made them work hard, with both sides goalless early in typical blustery Casey conditions. Melbourne kicked away in the third quarter, and the first goal of the last term made things difficult for the Suns. Two late goals reduced the margin to 12 points with two minutes left but the visitors were unable to score again.
