After a goalless first half and a narrow lead at half time the Demons pulled away in the third quarter. They opened a 17 point lead at the last change before Carlton stormed home to draw level with seven minutes left. Richelle Cranston saved the day by running into an open goal for the decisive score. Melbourne held on for the last three minutes to win their third consecutive game.
