Melbourne win by 2 points
In their first ever match in Renmark the Demons got off to a fast start thanks to four goals in the first half from James Sellar. With both teams playing weakened second round NAB Cup squads, Port cut the deficit to just eight points at the last change before Melbourne skipped away.
Another burst by the Demons put them 25 points in front, and seemingly home, before Port charged and cut the margin to two in the last minutes. Despite doing all the attacking in the final seconds they were unable to hit the front and Melbourne earned their first win of the season.
Best were Magner, Sellar and Jetta.
