Drafted after being named in the 1996 TAC Cup Team of the Year, Lamaro spent the entire 1997 season in Melbourne's reserves. He was chosen to debut in the first game of 1998. He was dropped immediately after only having just one handball for the match, and featured in a second game as a late inclusion in Round 9.

Delisted at the end of the season he returned to Euroa in 1999 and won their Best and Fairest in 2002. He remained there 2008 as well as filling in during a match for the Carlton VFL side during 2002.

After 10 years with Euroa he joined Craigieburn in the Essendon District Football in 2009 league, then coached Mernda in the Northern Football League Second Division during 2010. The side missed the final, his contract was not renewed and he signed to coach Violet Town in the Kyabram & District League in 2011, where they won the premiership in his second season.
