The son of the former Carlton player of the same name played reserves in 1933 and 1934 before being cleared to VFA side Northcote as player/coach in mid 1934.

Represented the League Seconds in a game game against the Eastern Suburbs Protestant Churches' Association in 1933.

Played at Morwell in 1936, then crossed to Northcote in 1937.
