Thomas Wray

Born in Yorkshire, Wray was a cricketer who also played football for Melbourne in 1859 and 1860. He served on the committee of the MCC from 1858 until March 1865, and was honorary secretary from 1858 to 1860. He played 1859 to 1861 and again in 1864.

He scored the first ever football goal on the MCG proper (as distinct from the 'football' ground next to the cricket arena) in the match against South Yarra. He had also scored the only goal for the 'Melbourne' team which had played against South Yarra in September 1858.

Wray played three first class matches for Victoria between 1858 and 1860.
