After restarting their spluttering season with a one point win over Hawthorn the previous Friday night, Melbourne improved their record to 3-2 by handing Port their third straight loss.

The Power mounted a comeback after being five goals down at half time, but they had left it too late.

Ex-Demon Fabian Francis was reported for striking Todd Viney and was suspended for two weeks. Best were Leoncelli, Tingay and Neitz.
