Greg Wells
Robert Flower climbed off his sickbed, despite having spent the whole week ill, at 11am on Saturday and led his team to victory. He was 70% fit and playing at his own request, a request that Carl Ditterich later admitted he shouldn't have granted, but for three quarters he lit up Moorabbin. Even when moved to the forward line for a rest he kicked 2.3, and with Greg Wells cut the Saints to shreds. Garry Baker and Tony Dullard were also playing injured.
Ditterich himself returned from suspension and was booed onto the ground at Moorabbin by the fans of the club he'd left the year before. Their mood didn't get any better when he clashed with Paul Callery and was publicly admonished by umpire Graham Marcey (left).
