Spotted by Ken Carlon while playing in the Amateurs, Sinclair had three Victorian and one All-Australian guernsey behind him when he was recruited by the Demons for 1969.

A doctor off the field, he kicked five goals to help the Demons win the 1972 Reserves Qualifying Final, including three in the last term. His medical commitments often clashed with football, leaving him to arrive at games on little, or in some cases no sleep.

In his senior games, Sinclair was often used as a reserve. By the start of 1972 he'd started 12 games and been on the bench 14 times - including eight in 1971, six times not being used for the day. He also battled injuries including two broken ribs, a broken hand, four torn hamstrings and a bout of glandular fever.

In 1973 he joined VFA side Prahran.

In 1985 he was part of a rebel group which attempted to force Billy Snedden out of the club presidency and replace him with Jim Cardwell.

His son, Ben, was drafted by Collingwood in the 2009 National Draft.
