Saturday 8 July - MCG
Melbourne 2.3, 4.5, 5.10, 7.15
North Melbourne 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0
Melbourne win by 7 goals
Goalkickers: Smith 2, Roche 2, O'Dea 1, G. Sheahan 1, Wilson 1
The visitors suffered the rare indignity of not only failing to kick a goal, but failing to register any score at all. They had lost their captain to retirement before the match, and the new man in charge suffered a baptism of fire as Melbourne tore his team apart. At one point almost every player in the lineup had a shot on goal.
Melbourne won the toss and kicked with the breeze, immediately opening opening the scoring.
Best were Howes, F. Sheahan and Moysey.
