Midfielder picked up before the 2019 season with Melbourne's first use of a new rule designed to allow teams to fill spots on their list before the season.
Played in Tasmania before travelling to Victoria to join Casey in 2018, winning three premierships with North Launceston. He started his career, before moving into defence in his second season. Had a delayed start to 2021 after suffering a testicle injury in the last pre-season match. Once he recovered, Lockhart was unable to break into a strong team and didn't play a game for the year. He was delisted at the end of the season.
Lockhart played for VFL side Southport Sharks in 2022, appearing against Casey in that year's Grand Final.
