Drafted after making the 1996 TAC Cup Team of the Year, Lamaro spent the entire 1997 season in Melbourne's Reserves. He debuted in Round 1, 1998 but was dropped the next week. He also featured as a late inclusion in Round 9, but was delisted at the end of the season.

Lamaro returned to Euroa in 1999, winning their 2002 Best and Fairest. He remained there 2008, as well as filling in during a match for the Carlton VFL side during 2002. In 2009 he played for Craigieburn, then coached Mernda in 2010. In 2011 he went to Violet Town, player/coaching there until 2013.
