Signed by Melbourne in early 1973, Hollick continued playing for the Richmond Reserves while waiting for a clearance. He said he also had offers from Footscray and North Melbourne.

Hollick was unable to win a clearance and instead went to SANFL side West Adelaide.

He played for Queensland club Mayne in 1981.
