In 1919 Landy was picked for a match between VFL and VFA players who worked in the public service. He played for the team representing federal government employees.

Joined Williamstown in 1920 but suffered a broken collarbone in the pre-season. Cleared to Tasmanian club Cananore in 1921.

His son John Landy was later a famous runner.
