Small forward prospect who ranked in the top 2% at his draft camp for agility, and was selected after kicking five goals in a TAC Cup final.

Hayes was suspended by the club in the pre-season for not attending training, and despite showing promise in the Sandringham reserves he played just one game for their senior side and was delisted at the end of the year.

He later played with Trafalgar, Paynesville, Wu Yung, Orbost, Lakes Entrance, Barwon Heads, Mooroopna, Morwell East and Ellinbank and was assistant coach of Swift's Creek in 2023.

In 2023 Hayes launched legal action alleging abuse by a former assistant coach of Eastern Ranges.
