Director in 1935, appointed to replace the resigning RV Hogg. Resigned due to ill-health. He returned in 1938.

Served as a VFL Delegate for 10 years from 1939 to 1948 - but had to take a three month leave of absence in 1946 due to illness.

Hogg was made a life member of the VFL in 1949 and served as the inaugural president of the Metropolitan League in 1950 but left after a year to go overseas.
