Centerman who joined the Demons in 1955 after beginning the pre-season with North Melbourne. He made the final list but did not play a senior game and returned to the amateurs.
He again missed out in 1956, but was one of the better players in that year's Reserves Grand Final. His season had been interrupted by the last year of medical study. As an amateur Collopy was selected to play for the combined VFA/VFL team in the 1956 Melbourne Olympic demonstration of Australian Rules Football. He was joined by teammate Denis Cordner.
