Centre-half forward recruit in 1958 but who did not play a senior game. He returned home before eventually joining South Melbourne the next year where he played 15 games.

The Swans had originally attempted to lure him to the club during 1958 but he remained in Minyip due to an ill father.

At the end of 1959 he returned to Minyip, continuing the play and coach in the Wimmera Football League.

In 1979 he was elected as a National Party state MP. He remained in parliament until 1999, serving as Minister for Corrections and Minister for Police & Emergency services.
