In Melbourne's only official practice match of 2021, they were well-beaten by a Bulldog side that kept them at bay all afternoon. Only strong defensive performances helped keep scores close into the second quarter, and after a burst of three quick goals briefly gave Melbourne a lead, the Bulldogs were back in front by halftime. They then piled on six goals to one in the third quarter to make sure of victory.

Best were May, Gawn and Fritsch.

Jay Lockhart (testicle) and Steven May (head/neck) were injured. Laurie and Petty were named but did not play.
