1877 July Match vs Williamstown

Saturday 28 July - Melbourne Ground
Crowd - Unknown

Melbourne 1
Williamstown 1 (half time 1-0)

Match drawn

Goalkicker: Charles Baker 1

Having been abandoned by several players after their recent performances - including a record defeat the previous Saturday - Melbourne only fielded 16 against 25 but managed to get out of the match with a draw.

Charles Baker put them in front but Goldsmith missed what should have been the second and Williamstown bounced back in the second half to snatch a draw. The visitors were the better side in the second half, but couldn't break through for a winning goal.

Best were Longden, James Bennie and McKie.
